Musical Street Performance: My First Wonderful Experience Playing At Clapham Common Station
I felt like an actress before a show, on the stage, and the empty theater was ready to be opened to an audience soon. I got off the train at Clapham Common, stepped into one of the exit corridors and looking around I chose to play in the middle of the panels "northbound - southbound".
The extended escalator walls had been my stalls like an old Greek or Roman theater. Wow, it was so large! I knew I had to sing loud to be heard. I had no amplifier. I was there "natural".
Okay, it was my time. My hair danced in the wind. I started singing while watching above. I sang and I saw the faces of the men and women. It is really true... We label ourselves "white power", "hate rock" or even something similar. We close ourselves into a box and we offer a closed box.
I understood that sometimes people did not comprehend my words. The movement has often blamed the exterior environment as "unable to listen", but maybe is it possible that I am not able to communicate?
My task is not recruiting people, but inspiring and leaving a trace of my ideas and beliefs, even if they're not shared. I want to speak to hearts and hopefully convince the others with my ideas and my ideals.
I think and I hope that my ideas are respected even if not shared. Usually my ideas are trashed because I always sung in a bell of glass. That is why I felt such a warm shiver when a busker heading back home halted in front of me to listen to my song.
He smiled at me and he gave me 1 pound. I felt a heart close to mine. A few minutes later a man from security chased me away, threatening he would have called the police. I had no authorization, but I'm going to ask the next time.
That special moment lasted only a minute, but the memory along with the feelings I store within my heart are flames that will burn forever. I'll keep Clapham Common Station, the sound of the trains and the echo of my singing inside of me forever.
That smile and the other smiles of the people, even the insisting invitations of a group of boys who wanted to have a hot night with me (they need to make a revision on how to court) and the disappointed faces! I only hope I left something of me there at that station and I hope that when you get there you are going to remember me.
After that experience I understood many other things. I felt like I could die that night. I could die having a smile on my face. It was the very first time I realized a dream! I played my songs! I felt like I was 11, when I started writing songs. I had dreams without having limitations dictated by others including myself.
Though this was an experience I will in no way forget, I've made a decision to take advantage of the internet and all its wonderful offerings. People all over the world can hear my music as well as other artists like me just by searching for: pop music downloads, rock alternative music, and even lyrics rock music. What a convenience!
